Imana Wild Ride Race Update: Day Three

I missed the truck yesterday. Had to beg to get my baggage into an SUV to toward The Haven. So this morning Max and I set the old alarm for one minute earlier than yesterday. It’s tricky. Having to pack all into your bag long before race start. It takes twice as long for the truck to get round than for us to bike along the coast. Either way, issue was we had a few minutes to spare after breakfast, so we crawled back into bed (you would have too) but had no watch or time indication with us in the room…

Imana Wild Ride 2008 Race Update: Day Two

Dan and Max started 2 mins behind the race leaders, which he says they could see most of the time. Apparently they had better tyres on (to ride through the sand) than Max and Dan which resulted in the 2 minute gap being extended. There are a series of hills which you have to walk up, which are appropriately called ”the mothers”, and on the other side of these, is a big ravine with a forest that you have to get through. The Imana Wild Ride is set in the Eastern Cape which conjures up visions of untouched natural splendour, noble heroes of the liberation struggle and gracious inhabitants.
