A short three minute clip of a Sunday morning on Maui. An extraordinary one. Unfortunately the clip does little to show the vicious lava rock, or the brutal heat, nor the big climbs, and long beaches. But it goes a small way to show some atmosphere from the Xterra World Championships of 2008.

Had a great day on Maui. Lazy morning, catching up with Brian and Jenny who got in late the night before. Doing an incredible swim, maybe the most amazing swim I’ve had yet, swimming towards the Maui Prince Hotel from up the coast. Something like swimming in an aquarium. A warm one. Strange being on a twin prop plane. Assuming the two ‘fan’s’ on either side makes it one. About as strange as the girl diagonally across shirt’s inscription: “delightfully tacky, yet unrefined”. Or about as strange as the feeling of  being Maui bound.

And that be that. The end of a small potent block of work in Truckee Tahoe High School pool as well as the trails circling Truckee Town. High, low, fast, slow - all the bad now. The usual scramble tomorrow, before a 10:40am departure to Kahului via Seattle.

Team Unlimited’s highlight clip from last weekend’s Xterra USA Championship 2008 in Incline Village. A great clip in high res which does well to capture much of the emotion on the course. Top draw. Enjoy.

Strange how an event can change inner perception - going from self doubt to self belief. I’m sure that’s universal, but non more so than in sport.
