“Everything but the kitchen sink” (ben and jerry’s)

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Been a great week back in thin Sierra Nevada air - settling training and bio-rhythms after 10days on the Midwest trail. It will take most of the 10days here to adapt to the lessened oxygen effect before heading North to Idaho next Thursday. More exciting back home was the finalizing of a new dreamGiver in [...]

Xterra Alabama 2009

Xterra Alabama
4th
2:08:07 - 3min40 behind winner Conrad Stoltz
Conrad Stoltz has lived in Bend, the small Oregon town where Steve Larsen was based; trained and dined with him and his family; worked a business relationship with Larsen; and had raced each other many times. It was an emotional dedication to a man leaving such a profound [...]

Race ready in Sweet Home Alabama

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Tomorrow morning will start at 430am with a grumpie alarm three hours prior to race start. Will be attending a short memorial service for Steve Larsen at the venue, a man I regrettably only got to spend brief moments with in Vegas, but who has been an icon for years. I’ve travelled a few parts [...]

Nashville Southern Living

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Really great helmet cam footage of a pre-ride on the Xterra Michigan bike course last week Thursday, taken from and edited by Will Kelsay. Shows some of the dizzy’ing riding of which there was no end. Its me in the black wind-breaker…

Skinned alive - Xterra Michigan

Xterra Midwest Cup - Battle Creek
4th - 2:05:27,  2min11 behind winner Conrad Stoltz
A report in short: Much better performance than in Vegas two weeks prior with a comfortable swim in the front pack. It was only 1000m though, and not enough to split and spread as would have been good for the 32km of tight [...]

4th in Michigan

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Just a quick note off the iPhone. Most fun race, super fast and testing. Freezing cold though, and onset a few mistakes. But so you learn. Stoltz won again impressively. Mike Vine second. Josiah Middaugh in third. Nico Lebrun fifth.
Off to Nashville after prize giving. And on to Bama later in the week.
Been a [...]

Hoping you’ve noticed the new team footer and linked across to the new url: triathlonteam.org - the new home of our online synnergy.
Big up to Nikola Tosic for his vision and direction, to me personally, as well as the team as a unit. I have mentioned before that its all an exciting experiment of sorts, [...]

When training is good

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Blogging is bad. So trust you’ll appreciate the lack of content as energy channelled onto some sticky, dust free, mint condition single track in the Truckee forests. I am finally for the first time since February 14th and my (tr)ucking surprise feel like I am getting amped for building form. I always maintain that I’m [...]

Here and There

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Katchafire (NZ reggae) doing a cover of Redemption Song on the MacBook as I start gearing for Sunday evening TLC at a local massage therapist after a great week of training out on the trails.
So will have to finish up this post when back,
but then I’ve been fading to the covers early lately, but this [...]

Xterra South West Cup Video

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Some of the lunar harshness captured by Trey for Xterra TV last weekend while race just outside Vegas. Enjoy the clip.
Celebrated a real fine Friday rest and relaxation day, twas much needed. Shared single track with a bear two days ago!

Vegas: The report

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Its nine hours down from Truckee!  With Emma’s favourite on repeat as a non-option: The Eels Band, this while driving through the most monotonous landscape thinking, “The Karoo has nothing on this”:

5 in 1 Embarrassment

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Been a long day: Moved house, did three sessions (all easy’ish) and read bed time stories (Fancy Nancy, The Little Train That Could and Fairies gone Crazy or something to that effect). Either way, too knackered to blog the Vegas weekend and too determined to capture some of its one-of-a-kind moments, so that will have [...]

Xterra Las Vegas photos

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Just back in Truckee - 11pm - after an epic 8hour drive through unchanging Nevada desert off a latish night out and about in the City of Sin. Race report tomorrow; with all else from a crazy weekend included. Visuals with a edgy feel from Nils:
