I could not imagine a better story than racing a triathlon in the Amazon rain-forest. The excitement for this venue was audible from the entire X3M team while racing in Sao Lourenceo six weeks ago. Its going to be other-worldly.
I had some spare time before departure at San Diego Int Airport after fighting the rigor of USA aiport security. Spare time meant three rounds of Odwalla smoothie and bar (nothing else is edible) and free public wifi which is as foreign to a South African lad as bottomless sodas and open seating on planes.
I want to run through oceans of green littered with the colours of spring – I want to share in its wealth. I want to bike to the top of a clif’s edge, stand in awe, overwhelmed by space and magnificence till nothing else exists. I want to taste determination in the back of my throat as if my lungs could not contain its measure. I want to dream and turn dream to belief, undeniable resolve within self. I want to feel. I want to live and live with all I have.
