Manic moment! Its my birthday today – as the my new 2010 Epic just arrived, unexpected and unannounced. So good. Today is meant to be cruisy prerace warm up only to the status quo start to the past three years: the Totalsports Challenge. Instead, also status quo, I’ve created logistical fun and chaos, now compounded by the Epic arrival. Hard to believe its here, 2010, first race, empty hour glass.
I have been meaning to wish you all a happy new years! Cheers to the a grand annum. Hope your festive season was a relaxing and rejuvenating as mine was, between a few quiet days on the farm and a few sunny days in Langebaan. I needed to get out of town a bit, was getting to me, the routine I hate but function well in. Incredible what a few days of change can do for the psychic and spirit. Perhaps just family too.
The new years weekend had some out-there-moments; like being dropped and fetched on the Lagoon far side for my long run. Fancy that, my Godfather on his self built 21f waiting for my 90min Long Run in the reserve to end. Did the most epic open water swim I’ve perhaps ever done on Sunday night – like an hour of wrestling – just a dog fight across the lagoon and back. It was support by the aunt and uncle on the yacht, and mother and cousin on surfski’s – so quite a sight, the flotilla. Chop was so big I could mostly just see the yacht for direction. The next morning we woke at sunrise, sailed over to Kraalbaai, and did a vartlek swim there. Serene stuff. Breakfast on the beach straight after.
There was a fair bit of exceptions – one should, no? Too much fine cheese, divine home-made custard, and some of my favourite bubbly by Melanie van der Merwe – called Tanzanite.
Was telling Dylan when driving back from registration last nigh, how I was reminded of the breathtaking surrounds we live in, call our own, and take for granted. Had the treat of taking some out of towners to a wine tasting on the Helderberg mountains after a lunch on Hellshoogte. Tis good here, real good. I just need to keep noticing.
So, the 2010 I’ve been day dreaming of is here. And its all happening faster than I can keep gribs on.
Ah, Dylan just wrapped up the Transition, and time to check the tweaks and flush the legs. More just now.
Thule racks are too good. Changed one of the three bikes carriers for a boat mount for the weekend. Such luxury.
Between all the trying to simply, trying to keep up, I am progressing with my latte art. These two made me well happy yesterday…
Eish, and need to get the car project and website off the ground by later today… 2010′lready. So not ready… But holding on I am.
