This morning’s view at the top after some intervals on the way up. Quiet, space, views, serenity – all before the plunge down that is.
I have been struggling to blog. Forgive me. Some lower times.
I go to Reno, 40mins drive from Truckee tomorrow at noon, for a small press gig. A sign of race day nearing, a sign of expectation, of one I dont know whether I can meet. That said, today was the most positive training I’ve had for some time. I hope there will be a bit of magic come Sunday morning 9am. One thing for sure, little hiding to be done. Its all show on the 35km of very sandy bike trails with more climbing than I care to mention. It’s either going to be there, or not at all. Such is the game.
I’ve thrown more photo’s onto my Flickr Account – some really neat ones of Fall and the changing of the season.

Remember, strength often lurks in strange places. Just make certain all your equipment is properly tuned. Thanks again to you, Gary, and Gia for the motivation and company on the rides and run. My entire locomotive system has rarely hurt so good. All you have to do on Sunday is make the others hurt worse than you, and then go faster.
I google earthed some of the coast of S.A. trying to find your wild ride path based on the event photos. I haven’t found the route yet but I did find an amazing photo of a surf break named “breezy’s.” There’s nothing like getting one’s imagination all fired up.
I also clicked the Specialized link on this site and watched the videos. Suddenly I am uncertain that I still want to grunt my way up all those hills when there is the option of focusing on radical drops and big air tricks. That’s probably not a good idea at my age but I figure why start letting rational thinking stop me from making bad decisions now?
See you next week. Be excellent!
Last minute packing tonight and on a plane to Reno in the morning with our DGHUGO.COM gear! Yeah! It’s going to be amazing time there in Tahoe.
There are no perfect words for us to say in this low time for you. All I can encourage you with is to know that you loved by many and you encourage many through your travels and Xterra career. We are all supporting you in your endeavors in sport and know that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. He is the only reason we can make it through low times. There is no self-help book or process to take part in, only resting in his grace and mercy. You are strong Dan (in Christ) and we all have witnessed it. Like I stated earlier, you are experiencing things that some of us only get to dream about.
See you on Thursday! USA Champs watch out, this man is FOR REAL!
DGH,
It’s time – LETS PLAY

Missed your blog Dan, but its ok – your photography has stood you in good stead! The hours and hours spent training are firmly clocked in Dan. Then its in God’s Hands – REST in that.
I read on one of your May blogs that what you had achieved racing when last in the USA was way ahead of your expectation. YOU alone have risen the stakes, through your talent, ability, commitment and HARD work.
You have nothing to loose Dan, so relax, make sure your equipment is all in excellent shape! (I ditto Brian’s comment) and give it all you have got. Am sending blessings, positivity and love….
