Arcade Fire

Posted on by Dan Hugo

Two weeks back while with my homestay in Richmond I got to attend the Grammy winning band Arcade Fire, in the cultural melting pot of Charlottesville. I’d certainly heard more of Charlottesville than Arcade Fire but honestly both were new to the senses and both were equally pleasing.

A really fun dinner on the open air walking mall between vintage buildings and artsy hipsters before going into a temporary dome like theatre that I’m guessing could hold two and half grand at most. Really neat.

Just not for the heat. It was easily one of the hottest (!?) experiences I’ve had with beads of sweat dripping off my finger tips in rhythm with the rock. It was sauna like.

I’ve gotten into more Arcade Fire since their show, which was super high energy and surprisingly ‘goofy’ very often. Seemed like a genuine goofiness though. All round a great live experience, although I’ve enjoyed them more since when able to delve into the lyrics more.
