Kind of been on this side of the bed for a while now – perched up against three pillows and feet on another. Been admin damage control as well as the start of a much needed rest day: massage and travel to Durban tomorrow. The final session was into the North Wester with Dylan alongside my rain pelted foolish self. Did have a jog on the plan this evening, but as I started, this side of the bed is working just fine…

Been a good block of work and I’m totally stoked with how I pulled through it. Friday has me going over the Triple Challenge bike route, which has a few exciting additions this year, checking out my boat on Inanda Dam, and jog in the evening. Usual prerace loosen day on Saturday before checking form on Sunday morning – 6hours worth of checking. That will end a 10week phase 1. Amped to race, the excitement and uncertainty thereof together with the opportunity. Be interesting to see how I go over the 21km run. Cant be overly special by definition, as it starts at 5am. Nothing magical starts at 5am, surely.
Mmm, wondering whether the new travel restrictions on rolling bikes on has hit Cape Town. Dont really have a bike bag out here at the moment. Should still clean the machine after the weekend triumph. Should show you my mini trophey? But a bit more than that to sort by my 230pm flight departure. Eish, still need to organise a commute there. Recalled my boat seat at least, which I’ve neglected lately to point of daunting doubt for the 20km of water expanse to cover on Sunday, but remembering it is a good start. My arms came undone properly last year, and good chance they’ll repeat the same fade this year. But then I have been on this new strength plan at Eden gym under Naude Jordaan.
Be interesting to see if that does the paddling any good. But tis early days, and the progress will only show later. Thats the current theme, it’ll all show later, just need to survive the weekend and then I’ve got time on my side again.
Made my first Red Cappuccino’s this evening. Exciting evolution. Was hard to believe I was creating such rich flavours in my apartment! Been loving the coffee discovery, and am slowly getting the milk foaming improved. Beans running low, so hoping to try a different roast next week. But this first batch of organic 4 origin blend has been amazing. So enjoying the whole process, the little ritual, the sounds of the grinder, the steamer, the aroma of the first shot… Too good. It’s all good.
So apparently there will be Tropitone posters up on exit at Durban International tomorrow. Crazy. Thats something new. And soon most the billboards will be up too. Odd but funky in some worped way.
Ah yes, new Luma kit this weekend. Big treat to step out in something fresh: a creation that has taken some time. Luma is creating some unbelievable custom apparel – did you see Conrad’s kit for Maui?
Messy rain today, far out. So hoping to return to summer loving next week. Daylight is fantastic already – was running with a mate in Jonkershoek till 7:45pm on Monday. Just not getting the sunshine and heat consistently yet. Crazy to think its mid November already. Fly by. Trust you are holding on your seat too.
