Celebrating Mari Rabie
October 21st, 2007 by Dan Hugo
I have known Mari since provincial swimming trips as a ten year old, and have had the privilege to watch her grow into a remarkable inspiration to many including myself, as an actuarial science student, world class athlete, Olympic hopeful and as a person who succeeds. Mari is my neighbour, training partner, friend, and litmus paper for personal dedication. A few close friends shared their admiration for her ambitious journey at her 21st birthday celebration at Lyngrove estate yesterday, and I add my admiration to theirs. Mari, we salute you.

True to her character, the mornig was not just about celebrating her life, but she made it to be about those precious to her as well. Personal notes to each, an entire gift giving to friends in great humour, were all a special testimont to the person of Mari.
Really enjoyed my time there with Ruth and some friends, at the stunning Lyngrove Farm House between Stellenbosch and Somerset West. Picture perfect day, and fine food to recover from my long run before.

Cheers to the next 21 Mari…
