Greengate Deli and Eatery News

Ten days of no training makes for hours of inward sulking that leaves little energy to project anything outward blogwise, let alone something positive and worthy of comment. Moments of smile are hard to think of but today’s lunch at Greengate sure was, and reminds me of Greengate News needing posting. Change, winds of change in an exciting way.

Greengate is moving premise to the centre of town – to an open courtyard and space previously managed as The Libriary. Its a courtyard brought to life in the past few years, and although the shift is all of 2.5 blocks, its a significant one, to the heart of Stellenbosch’s hussle. The square is in off Church, Bird, Andringa and Plein Streets. I believe Greengate will shape the ambience of the quad further into a real alternate, viby and positive feel.

Other than the change in premise, there is the possibility of weekend buffet brunches, possibly even later trading through early evenings mentioned in passing. Will have to wait and see. Picturing a long ride melt down alongside the centre fountain beside a plate of Greengate goodness on a summer’s Sunday is picture of beauty.

There has been really wonderful times out on Reyneveld curbside alongside the Skuinshuis and beneath the great acorn tree – times now down to days, as the move will happen starting October. I’m sure the carrot cake recipe, and more recently beetroot cupcake recipe will survive the transfer…

Personally, I love it. Am super excited for it. My gym sets at Eden Health with Naude are opposite where Greengate will be, so the beloved bubble shrinks further. But its of my favourite locations in town, and I hope the change in location will allow more to experience the health magic from regular ‘wholesome home cooked’ variety. So cheers to the change. As I know more definites I’ll keep you posted.
