Apologies. Been a hectic week all over the show.
In Knysna at the moment, raced an Xterra here yesterday. (article)
Mmm, been reluctant to write about France. Was a tough day to finish 12th. Race report out soon.
Incredible to arrive home to snow capped mountains and home cooked food to thorn tree logs on the fire.
So much to blog about. Will soon. But know that South Africa is home. And I’m glad to be here. Home sweet home.

I’ve been on the road a while too. I was in Oregon, and right now I’m in Truckee. Some of the guys and I rode two bridges and shaffer creek with Emma yesterday evening. She kicked our butts and never broke a sweat. I think everyone wrecked at least once. I probably wreck better than you, or at least more often, so maybe there’s something I can claim bragging rights about. It’s very smoky here because of all the fires in California. I’ts kinda like biking through the apocolypse.
I’m just getting caught up on your adventures. Yes, there is nothing like home, I am certain it feels good. I am eager to hear the latest scoop. You post more than anyone except for some queer gossip columnists so don’t worry about time off the computer. I can’t believe what a successful year you’ve had so far. In your retrospective analysis don’t lose sight of that fact.
I would not say I kicked anyone’s butts on that ride. Brian forgot to mention I fell off the first bridge going in both directions! It’s a long way down too.
Speaking of bad experiences I think my downieville classic one rivals your last two weeks.
Firstly I got pulled over on my bike for driving thru a stop sign and got a ticket.
Got my first flat in a race lost a lot of time but still finished but because of bad timing chips I have a DNF but I think I may have podiumed anyway.
So now I know how crappy it feels it get a flat…feeling like your race is over but mostly realizing how long the “walk of shame” is if you can’t fix it.
Anyway I am stoked u will be in Tahoe and Hawai’i, start planning your costume now!
Hey Guys,
Wishing I’d been on the ride. Glad you guys have kept in touch. Emma progressing with some climbing? Other than getting back up out of the streams…
Brian, I did my first climbing wall this weekend. Will get a video up of it tomorrow.
Sorry to hear of the bad experiences Emma. Flatting is very over rated. I’m done with it. Its very last season. Aiai.
My creativity doesnt go far. I’ll get the misses planning!
