So two of my training partners over the past two weeks have put some photo’s up and written their view of some of the moments we’ve shared together. Always a laugh to see the same situation through different perspective. One of my favorite quotes was along those lines a few years back. I cant recall the author, nor the exact wording, but it was something like: “We dont see things the way they are, we see them the way we are.” Either way, have a look on Fraser’s site and Christoph’s and hurl some verbal abuse at me through a comment if you feel my blogging has been tainted by blurry lenses too much.

Spent the early part of my day at Cape Town International meeting my family as a welcoming to my older sister Helen who tomorrow, one year back, boarded a plane by my side for a three month work experience stint in New Zealand. Twas inspiring with lasting intent being reminded of the world out there and all there is to experience and see. She finished her year with a week in Sydney with some friends, before a magic three weeks in Thailand.

The Totalsports Challenge was a week earlier last year, and as mentioned Helen and I were off to Queenstown straight after. Myself, to spend a few weeks preparing for World Multisport Champs – the Speights Coast to Coast, and Helen to start her wondering years. I’d been to NZ twice prior, once for World Junior Triathlon Champs and a year later to work in Queenstown. So knowing the setup well I encouraged Helen to join. Its one of the few spots in the world where South African’s are more than welcome, and cant get a work permit in quick time.

Its where I’ve spent time most other than the farm in Worcester and here in Bosch, and hearing Helen’s news on Queenstown brought back many memories. This all is some diversion to my odd need to express my eagerness to get traveling again. So much to see, taste, smell and discover. Hoping the sport will keep generating some excuses to get out there.

Equally fantastic to have my older sibling back home. Unsure for how long though, as I think the world has opened up to her now and with her qualification as a chef, she can go make it happen any where, any time.
