One of the favourite rides in my hood. And had picture perfect weather to ride in, prob the warmest day we’ve had for ages, with bits of snow still capping the mountains in the distance.
(The motion based summary)
(Motionbased map and ride profile) – Four good climbs

(Aerial view of ride, from Stellenbosch, over Franschhoek Pass, and back)

(Ride profile, with False Bay in the backround)

(The climb up Franschhoek Pass, shorter and bit steeper this side)

(Franschhoek Pass on the Villiersdorp side, the longer flatter)
All thanks to my Garmin Forerunner 305.

Nice work with your new toy! I own one and they are amazing, must have been great to be on the bike again!
Hmmm, no metric units, what’s up with that? Are you converting over in preparation of another US siege? Do you know how many pounds you weigh yet? More important, I have a hot date, can I borrow that blazer? It does appear you had a productive weekend, both socially and physically. I couldn’t ride for 3.5 hours even if the devil was chasing me. But then it is more than 20 degrees F. hotter at my house so its possible I am riding through hell and the devil may well be on my tail. I should step it up some. Anyway, while you luxuriate in relative climate control comfort on the far side of the equator I see that your North American competition is being tested and winnowed by equipment problems. The podium practically cries out “where are you Dan Hugo?”
