Mumford and Sons

Posted on by Dan Hugo

I struggle to lock it down totally – the level to which I fantasize achieving someday when I grow up or as I imagine many of the A-list manage to do. Nothing but swim, bike run and recovery. I’m convinced I have a bucket needing inspiration and if not filled periodically I’m doomed to unravel at some point. I crave the mental stimulation, the creative outlet, the thinking challenge which is more rare in my daily routine as an athlete.

I’m trying to justify, to myself mostly, that the occasional deviation is not only permissible but necessary. That said, I’d entertain the discussion of timing… And accept in season there might need to be more discretion.

But this then was my third live music show in a month – Mumford and Sons at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium. And it rocked out. I enjoyed the experience more than I can tell, and will harbour the memory a long time hence.

Another short highlight clip filmed on the iPhone.

Marcus Mumford uses much of Shakespeare in his lyrics, and I really like the play on words in many of the tracks. Joe Gambles and his missus Mary purchased the last minute tickets – literally day before stuff, and the three of us shared the night, and the misery while riding the next day.

If you’re unfamiliar with Mumford and Sons – you have a new bold print on your to-do list. And if ever you get the opportunity to see them live – a must.

Must admit that I’m pretty jealous of your month. Training, racing, AND great live music. Does it get any better?

I saw them in Asheville a few weeks ago, managed to get tickets a few hours before the show started…..best decision ever! Wow, what a show! Definitely the best live act ever!
