Its a bad start when I have to visit my own blog to remind my memory of the last post. And even worse to see Beckham featuring in it… Aiai. But such it has been, another manic period of candles burning all ends. Magic times though - mixing recovery week with some social, big news, some shoots, and the most insane concert I’ve been to.

Physically I was as near to the cliff edge as I’ve been in a while when going into last week. It had been a good block, but could feel the toll of To Hell and Back, Triple Challenge, and Double Century in the system. The events and travel combine lethally. But progress all round I’d say, and confirmed that in the max rep’s at Naude’s gym, as well as in the lab last Thursday doing a bike VO2 Max test.

Also had my father’s inhouse hill climb event, staged as a invitation only handicapped TT near our farm this past Saturday that I attempted to ride as a test of sorts. Twas such a magic day weather wise - the total opposite of the 20m misty visibility of the first year in 2007. The views of the Breede Valley are sensational - from the top. I was on the blur climbing, trying to find threshold for the 1h, 15km, 1000m altitude gain grind. Breakfast was catered for back at ours - and takes 100% of the entry fee. Good times - and fair play to all who made the top with a smile intact.

The test was a little obscured by Friday’s commercial type vibe I got to do out on the West Coast - for German Intersport. Such a fresh script - trying to mimic African wildlife, so as to be super-imposed onto the photo of the animal. ie, if the photo was of a Giraffe scouting the horizon all stretched out, I’d be on tip toes, neck out, checking the scene. That type vibe. So too a cheetah cornering full tilt, a lion standing proudly, an antelope leaping, eagle flying, etc. Magic images with flash by a German photographer who’d done a fair bit of Triathlon, including an Ironman. So the two of us hit it off and had a fun time testing each other’s limits.

Heard grand news from Specialized last week - the excitement is keeping me up this week…

But my current infatuation was hinted at in the twitter feed, from the Stellenbosch Thule Fitment Center. Unbelievable. I am trying my best to be patient, to get the branding sorted, get the rims, racks, and blog going, before launching proper. And we’re getting closer - but the past 10days have been a sensation - check in at Kelfords in the mean time, and keep a’guessing. Big up to Thule South Africa in the mean time as well. But as mentioned, hang tight.

The sun is cooling down, and I need to get moving toward those funky pre-release edition Puma Ventis shoes I’m testing. Will tap it out in Jonkershoek I reckon, to another evening of perfection. Weather has been fantastic over the past few days. Hope it holds.

It did for The Killers concert outside Paarl, on a developing Polo Estate. It was beyond what I could express in a rush here. One of the more inspiring nights out I’ve lived. Somewhere between the sunset, pink shade mountains, 20 000 passionate South Africans, good friends and a sister, passionate artists and a golden circle pass, I was buzzing. The Killers seemed so into it, perhaps good showman, but I perceived their feel as totally genuine and inspired.

That really is skimming the surface. Good times all round. Must be off. Thanks for checking in. Best run the spell check for me…
