Yeah yeah. Grand weekend in simplest of forms – time away with some friends 2.5hours Karoo bound from Stellenbosch, otherside Ceres towards Calvinia, nestled between bright spring flowers and timeless rocks and an overwhelming void of electricity and Vodacom. Priceless silence and peaceful soul time with much laughter to boot.
Although still on the meds (antibiotics and cortisone) till Wednesday, I am feeling vibrance in my emotions again and managed a light bit of training this weekend. So loved taking the new Puma Vectana’s out for a test (more soon) and getting back on my Epic (forgot my helmet – forgive me – Skull Candy’s did the trick instead) after two and a half weeks with a heart rate never exceeding 60bpm.
It was a brilliant weekend for South African mountain biking – Burry Stander won the World UCI u23 XC event, Greg Minaar marginally got 2nd in the DH, and Candice Neethling got third in the XC Junior girls race. Brilliant weekend for Specialized too, with Lene Byberg getting 2nd in the Ladies XC. Couldnt be more pleased for Burry in particular. Such a great guy, and a passionate South African.
If you took note of the twitter feeds, I have made one of the bigger decisions in my short career – a positive one – which I now have peace and much excitement about – in not returning to the USA till 2010. This will be a post in the next few days. It comes with its far share of disappointment, but I am going to make it a critical shift in my long term journey by building a base foundation for the next two seasons.
Connecting with Tropitone and Jeep Apparel this week which has me excited, and Jeep means being in Natal Thu and Friday. Else its settling in and getting over my soreness from 2x30min ginger jogs. Alas.
