Robberg Express Multisport Race
September 22nd, 2007 by Dan Hugo
My first outing since 10th June’s crash went well, in the warm up race context it was, and fully enjoyed the thrill of racing again. The Robberg Express Multisport just on the outskirts of Plet, comprised 35km mtb, 10km trail run, and 10km sufrski paddling.

(Race start, with the mtb, in a light drizzle)

Martin Dreyer got the better of me, and race really well. Proper excited for him doing South Africa proud at the Trinidad Coast to Coast in a few weeks time with the form he’s in. He is such a class act, and I couldnt shake him on the ride, and he was like a duck to water on the most rugged of trail run’s, opening four minutes on me there, and increasing that out at sea. Master Martin is in good nick and twas great to race against.

(Master Martin hitting the timing dibber after a muddy ride)

(Pre-race snacking on a USN Energy Harvest Bar)

(Sneaking elastics in search of futile seconds)

(Muddy ride, headed for run)

(A small lead out of transition)

(Headed out for flat surfski in Plet Bay)
Nothing magical just yet, but happy with how my body is bouncing and handling the volume of the past two weeks. Just grateful to be on a start line again, and suck up the thrill of a chase.
