Sabie Experience 08 - smooth cruise
December 14th, 2008 by Dan Hugo
Thankfully my gifted partner has been wrestling a bug somewhere in his digestive track. The bug won. Big up to it. Meant the youngster couldn’t teach me a school boy lesson in the hurt box on a day that could easily have transported one’s enthusiasm to “that deep dark place” with all it’s climbing. Joking aside, I left a fragile Bryce after 12km and rode on to join Conrad Stoltz and Bobby Behan for the remainder of the 77km. Two talents at bull s$&t. They made 77km of it look easy. Great company for The Smooth Cruise.
The riding itself was good. Big 18km climb, in quiet mist, before rolling terrain through forests and indigenous bush. Unfortunately not as much single track as hoped but enjoyed following Conrad’s wheel on thevpieces we did have. Always something to learn from him.
Did get some fun photo’s, but on the iPhone and can’t get them on.
A few refreshing drinks after (not my USN recovery mix…) delayed the afternoon somewhat. Or made for a better nap. Or both
Crazy. This is my day job and all!
