My father made me promise him, that once I’ve tried everything else, I need to test his approach to sports nutrition: “Eat as much as you can, of whatever you can, whenever you can”.
I’m feeling like a different being – spirit, body and soul – and believe I’ve managed to connect the dots of understanding my collapse. The premise thereof is currently being tested, and I will be sharing and doing a best explaining effort in the next few days.
I’m occasionally rubbing my new found belly with new found affection. I’ve not done two weeks rest in the past 8months. It was significant for my favourite film list and belly. So generally positive, but still catch myself conversing with Dan in a hostile dialogue repeatedly similar to:
Dan: I’m sorry.
Self: Shit yeah, so am I. We were so close.
Dan: Can we kiss and make up yet?
Self: Maybe after the double time. You’ll be working it all back, time and half for time missed… Hurt locker and all.
I’ve done a few light swims and spins and one jog. It’s magic out when not snowing… Above the Old Donner Pass. I have compact on my Roubaix, so dont get overly excited at me climbing already. It was a route choice more for the soul than the easy spinning stimulus I needed.
The weather is still very hit and miss although Spring is winning the battle. Hopefully blue skies will hold through this easy into week. Last Wednesday the snowfall was close to a foot. Incredible watching it stack up on the tiniest branches, on fence tops, and the Land Rover… Freaked me out having to drive when not being able to see any road. I could have run faster than I was driving to dinner.
Again, thanks for the countless mails and messages of support. Its been totally humbling and very moving. And in itself worth the melt down. Be at ease, I’ll be alright, the cogs are getting into motion slowly.
