Today we decided to boycott our EA Sports – Need for Speed team name, and follow the needs of our alter ego’s. Slow playing on the bikes, with extra time spent at water stations for an extra doughnut, or two. We soaked up some of the true “Adventure” spirit further down the field, and enjoyed our final journey to Scottburgh Beach on the Natal South Coast.

We were being joked at as the men in black with our EA kit. Between the 8 of us, we made a statement.

(From pinstripes to pinstripes riding through a reserve)
The last day was the easiest of the three, with fast open gravel roads through the sugarcane plantations heading towards the coast. The atmosphere where we were riding was festive and joyous and more like young boys racing each other towards candy being handed out than a bike race of sorts. Even on the beach at the end, guys were running, trying to ride the sand and trying to stay ahead of friend and foe.

Dylan and I rode with a smile. Three of the better days imaginable in more ways than one. Great socialising with an income group echelons above ours… Brilliant riding over 260km from rocky escarpments to beach sand… Doughnuts and Clover yogisips on tap… And we won an Xbox 360 each from EA Sports… You lucky can too fools from Stellenbosch get.

(Top draw recovery mix – 1 x Hamburger, 1 x Steak Burger, and 4 x pancakes)
The main race was one by Ben-Melt Swannepoel and Mannie Heymans, in a time much much quicker than mine. But who cares when you can eat doughnuts and shoot the breeze.
Watch this amazing bit on the bridge.

Hey Dan…… It was great fun having Dylan & yourself join us at the event. You guys were real superstars and I am sure Dylan will be feeling his legs ache for the next few weeks after the huge effort that was put in on day 2. We will have to do it all again next year!!!!
PS. I am sorry that you guys didnt have the legs to stick with us on day 3!
