Michal convinced me to try and relieve the pressure under the nail by puncturing through the nail with a needle (which I had lying around?). I’ve always maintained that I’m not the bravest soul, but the pain was beyond anything I’d felt before and paled Francois’ massage discomfort, or even the breaking and re-breaking of my wrist, by some margin. So I plucked up what little courage I had, and fueled by surplus despair, started at the nail. But I think the blood had already coagulated…
