I’m sitting on a BA flight. Fancy that. I sure didn’t pay to be here, merely upgraded from my Kulula booking. The only difference could be as small as getting a glass of juice, a small glass at that, for free, as opposed to paying, yet my perceived experience will be a much better one, simply knowing it was a British Airways flight. Shallow times?
Destination is Durban, for two days of smiles, frowns, stares, and poses in 2008 Jeep ApparelWinter Range items on a game farm toward Maritzburg. It’ll be my third time involved in a shoot of theirs, but I’ve not settled to it yet. I had my moments of self doubt again today, and sought my Sweetlovefor affirmation. Its such a cruel self analytic process I put myself through. Alas, the photographer’s talent is to make anything look good through his lense, and then there’s photoshop as backup…
Am looking forward to seeing the garments. I was surprised at the trendy feel of the last shoot, moving away from the more Camel Man look of the first. Perhaps the 40 year old of today prefers to dress like the early twenties. Further excited for the game reserve. Sounds a treat.
Back down on Wednesday night, for the usual routine of Bosch life.
Heading back on next Tuesday though, for the Subaru Sani2cAdventure mountain bike race. It’s a three day stage race race, from somewhere in Underberg called Sani, to the sea. I’ll accept it sounds a bit random, but its been rated the best mountain bike event in the country, and a must do on the calendar. I’ve wangled myself and Dylan into an EA Sports entry. Should be great to be a part of their outfit and crew. We’ll be going under the name of EA Sports – Need for Speed. But there should be much need for speed.
As we’ll be in the Adventure. A race of equal size the main race which starts a day later. The feel of the two events will differ greatly, as should be aptly shown but beer consumption and average riding time. But the route is identical. Perhaps not after a 1000 riders punish a muddy single track the day prior…
I am going to socialize and network, and be a part of Specialized, USN, Garmin and EA Sportsinput into the event on a lowkey level. There will be some 260km or riding too best I not forget.
Good base miles in my next 8week training block building toward Xterra SA at Grabouwon the 19th of April. I’ve decided to can the thought of a smaller race or two between now and then, and focus solely on a top draw effort at Grabouw. You could be asking how hard can it be to win a local title… Well, consider South Africacan proudly call three time Xterra World Champion its own, its harder than expected. I’ll happily finish second to Conrad again this year, but in my mind, its time to start thinking of getting closer and closer.
So that’s its looking beyond. Ruthand I should be booking our flights to the USA and Europe this week as well. A three month travel that will start two days after Grabouw. It’ll be a six race block, and gives the two months of pursuit for perfect training some greater meaning.

By the way, when you come to the U.S. I want a Jeep shirt (unavailable here). You know the size. Let Ruth pick it out – something that would make a smart ass look good.
“I’ll happily finish second to Conrad again this year, but in my mind, its time to start thinking of getting closer and closer.” This line makes me think of things like skateboarding. The equipment hasn’t changed too much in thirty years, and the skater kids today are not genetically superior to the kids of thirty years ago, but now your average street grom can do tricks and spins that hadn’t even been dreamed of in the 70′s and 80′s. It all has to do with what they BELIEVE they can do. I want you to believe even bigger, and you should know I do already. Just bring it!
