Too knackered to write sense

4 Events in on the South African summer hitlist:

Triple Challenge - 15 November 2009

Totalsports Challenge - 9 January 2010

70.3 South Africa - 17 January 2010

Xterra Grabouw - 19 February 2010

Heading off to Oudshoorn this weekend for the To Hell and Back mountain bike event this weekend for a steady training ride and first real test. It will also be a great festive feel camping out in the remote valley on Saturday night with many of my friends partaking. My old is riding too, and should be memorable finally getting to ride an event I’ve had on my list for years.

Next weekend I head up to Natal on Thursday, and race the Triple Challenge on Sunday 15th. An event I really love, have won three times, and will be a more concrete test of base form after 2months. Wont do any real quality work before and go in on aerobic conditioning alone. Hoping it will serve me well.

The weekend after I’m joining 2XU on a Double Century team time trial. 12 start and a minimum of 6 riders need to complete the course for an official finish. Never done the ride, which is held not far from the far, never wanted to actually, and still struggling to wrap my mind around it. But hoping for fine weather, and good spirits in the bunch, and will be a more than money long ride for the bag.

And then its a good training stint to the back to back TSC and 70.3. The half Ironman might be jumping at you here, and yes, its an unknown. I intent to feel this first one out, the training and racing, and figure my level of passion for the discipline. Will take it from there. Sort of grateful for the Kleinmond year starter, which takes some self pressure off the 70.3.

There is an Xterra at the end of January in Johannesburg, which I’ll roll through, before peaking for the Xterra in Grabouw, our national championships in February. I would really like to win this event again, and with staying home, the date change works well.

Having Grabouw that much earlier allows me to do another base block before going over to the USA earlier than the past two years, and possibly even joining the Specialized crew at the Seas Otter Classis which I’ve heard to much of. But also intend racing some cycling events here in preparing before going. Sani2c, Giro, and maybe a national mtb xc event or two…

Past bed time. Just been wanting to share the plan for now, will keep you posted as it evolves.

Wow my friend. Sounds like you are biting off some not-so-average adventures. It’s good to see the broad interest and will make for interesting reading for sure.

Keep the head up mate and watch out for those roadies, they’ll take you down, lol!
