I guess the photo that really counts. Pretty festive ending. Dipping under 5h on a shortened day.
The race started as a mass road race. Was fortunate to get into the break early - lead here by World Champion Burry Stander.
I didnt last long. Neither did anyone else for that matter. Burry put 3min into the second team.
The road run. Was niggling and tight and realised here, 70.3 was probably not on. Frustrating.
My Garmin 310XT was ticking was showing good figures at the end here, but nothing magical.
Had to get out and round a few flags two thirds into the paddle on the Arabella Estuary. Stunning stuff.
We mountain bike out on the hill int he back - into the Koegelberg reserve.
Yeah yeah, this be it. Some climb. Loose sand. Perfect fynbos though.
Recall settling on the S-Works Epic on the ride. The months of aerobic finally seeping through. Loved the ride.
The beach is out and back. Gets real social. Was the hardest we’ve had it. High tide…
Not your typical beach day…
Tis never possible alone. Youngest sister Clare was a huge support before and during the event.
Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR.
Some more great images on occassion in this set.
