My good friend and fellow Mon Desir neighbour for ages, has been in Canada working for some time. David has been one of my greatest supports since going full time, and is always vocal on the blog. He started mountain biking in Whistler, arguably the best place to mountain bike in the world (so I’ve heard), and so may well be disappointed with Bosch riding with me when back there later this summer.
One of my favourite “David” memories is seeing him red faced and quiched out on the balcony at Mon Desir after a ‘jog’ with my father. David volunteered for what he thought would be a jog with an old timer, and return near death after summiting a near by hill top before doing the usual Bergpad loop. David held face, more so, he’d gained some honour… and experience in not judging a book by its cover.
I am really excited that David has started biking, and he seems to be loving it. Just imagine if he was on a Specialized… Some day. He’s boss is a South African expat and so when riding together, they both get to arrive late for work. If you understand Afrikaans, and have met David, you’d hurt laughing at the clip above, where David is out riding with his boss.
Big up to you David, keep it in the big blade with a smile. That drop off is yours next time.
