Spent Friday morning in a studio, foreign territory to me, with another USN sponsored athlete and a really fun, dynamic camera crew creating some USN photo’s for media going forward. Had some really good laughs, trying to track stand (should have practised more of), pretend swim lying spread eagle over a chair with someone holding my feet, doing 100m sprint starts and even the odd acrobatic with a Specialized bike.

Was interesting seeing the different way the photo’s get setup in the studio, versus on set somewhere. The lighting was fascinating, trying to eliminate shadows, positioning and repositioning the reflectors and flashes, and could finally understand the backdrop more. Its simply a rolled down piece of paper, and therefore no corner is seen, and the continuous feel behind is created in a studio. We shot on a black background, as in the photo above, and later on a white back ground.

The few photo’s I got to see where just crazy. Such strong visuals with the lighting and stark background. Look forward to showing you the end product soonest.
In the ideal world, I can facilitate synergies between my four sponsors, and hoping this was the first opportunity in that direction. Got to do all the bike stuff on a Specialized bike and with Specialized accessories on.

Headed home on Friday night, and cant describe the energy and vibe at Joburg airport with the British Airways Sasol Springbok rugby campaign with the England/RSA game a few hours later. Every race, every class, all seemed united in enthusiasm for our national rugby pride. Twas rewarded with a 36-0 thumping of England in Fance. Hoping they can take it all the way.
