When times are tough, posts are few
August 8th, 2008 by Dan HugoAs reported in the Wild Ride tales, my Sony camera, which has soldiered faithfully for a few years, drowned at the final river crossing of Day 1. My phone didnt survive the trip either. And finally this week, my computer booked out too. Asleep, hibernating, unwilling to come to, I dont know.
So, the tele is hopefully being repaired, and numbers wont be lost. I’ve been meaning to back up my phone book, as always, for some time now. If only I had.
I’ve invested in an Olympus, with 3m of underwater capability, in preparation of next years’ Imana swims.
And the MacBook, well, hoping CPR with a hammer does the trick…
It’s been a steady week though, despite the dreaded antibiotics battling a throat infection which is doing the rounds through Mon Desir. Hours are trickling back into the bag and I can feel form building. Managed to roll out of bed to the odd morning swim with the squad, do some powercranking, and tick through some hilly running. I’m nearing as little as five weeks till I fly back to the USA, and 8 till Xterra USA finals on 5 Oct. Next weekend is the second Jeep Msinsi, so I’ll pop up to Natal for it, but should be another week of building the hours and strength.
Hope you all got to watch some of the O-lympics opening for inspiration sake. Unbelievable.
Out on the farm for the weekend, and pitching for a long ride with my father who’s been doing plenty mountain biking of late. That’s if we can get the SRAM trigger shifters reassembled which he dismantled for a clean just now. Should be special riding on some of his trails in the Breede Valley.
