When training is good

Posted on by Dan Hugo

Blogging is bad. So trust you’ll appreciate the lack of content as energy channelled onto some sticky, dust free, mint condition single track in the Truckee forests. I am finally for the first time since February 14th and my (tr)ucking surprise feel like I am getting amped for building form. I always maintain that I’m a complete being, and the form coming on is just a function of feeling alive and vibrant with the wholistic side of life here in Truckee.

With leaving the beloved routine in the Bosch: [Lizel's Pilates three times weekly, Naude's all round body conditioning at Eden Health, and seeing Francois Retief and Benita de Witt as need for massage and alignment correction as needed], travelling cross Atlantic and nine time zones and racing in Vegas and not having any treatment, I was pannic’d and seeing the body barely held together at the seems. I’m still fending off some structural niggles from the accident and without treatment, it would just have been a matter of time. So seeing Kate Fox for massage, and dr Cathy Taylor for chiropractic treatment in the past two days has felt like a chocolate and coke when bonked on a lonely long ride. Both have really supported my well being, and might be the start of “inTruckee”.

I am sitting having uncle Ben and uncle Jerry’s Turtle Soup.

Tomorrow has me packing for a ten day trip to Michigan, down the Mid West (great expectations!) to Nashville for a few nights, and then onward to Justin and Iris in Alabama, before getting back to Truckee late next Sunday the 24th. Should be a great seeing some new parts of the USA, two races, and time with the Evans and Poland families.

Spring is full on here in Truckee, with the most perfect blossoms down Truckee main road again. Snow is melting away, and enthusiasts are getting out to play. I’m stunned to see the amount of female outdoor activity here, such a stark contrast to home. Is it culture, is the safety issue?

Loosing my Virginity – I am totally absorbed by Richard Branson’s life and business legacy. (the other reason for lack of blogging). So much of inspiration in there. A life lived to the rhythm of his own heart, seeminglyt sheltered from society’s dictation.

Have done some great riding on the new Specialized Roubaix (again, big thanks Bobby). Including a ride up and over Donner Pass yesterday afternoon. Crazy beautiful views.

Dan, I am worried you are still listening to music while cycling.

I think music was one of the reason you got hit by that truck.

Please be safe and take the earphones off.

Million times you will be safe but million and first time you will get hurt.

Last time you were very lucky.
