Writing the mess that is

Got back from the shortest swim session, more as a sidekick to the Pretty Princess having an evening swim lesson. Now I am just’a sitted. Trying to convince myself that you and I both need this post as much as I needed the foot of snow on Monday. I have such inspired moments while out training or generally observing the peculiar ways of mountain people, but when I get to the keyboard even the title box seems to daunting to fill.
Anyhow, its snowed again as mentioned but thankfully held off till the final day of house moving. Mentioned to my folks I’d always fancied a white Christmas and all, but thats alright now. No need. Moving – much to learn there.
- You should never move to a house within two miles of your current residence – you’ll be tempted to do it yourself.
- You have more than you need. A certainty.
- Despite lesson’s one and two, if you must move on your own, with more than you need, get an African to help out. Even a white one.
We are in, dust is settling, and celebrated our stiff backs with delicious champagne last night. Really excited for my host family and their joy in chasing a lifestyle dream. I’ll have you know: I might know how to tile by the end of the summer, as this fixer-upper still has some fixing upping to do… So some interesting times ahead.
Listened to a few chapters of an Audio Book, Andre Agassi’s autobiography, while biking earlier today – a first and stimulation I’ve been curious for. Also been listening to my all time favourite podcasts – Real Time With Bill Maher on the runs, and enjoying the politcal conversation with twisted humour more than ever. Gets me reasoning and arguing with myself, and better to be arguing financial policy reform than arguing over shortening my run time. Although I make a very convincing argument after about 30minutes of suffering at the moment.
Reading has been on a hold with the move. But was getting into A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller, a recommendation I am drawn to for its unique style and layered meaning. Finally read into the British political debacle – was oblivious as the USA only reports on the USA. Not been very motivated to following news back home, which disappoints me. I want to want it.
Been postponing the grand post on neuroendocrine dysfunction – aka a f#c&u@. Will require more humility than I currently have.
I’m really trying hard here. To write inspiring content, but I’m still at that inbetween place, the land of the drifting, and struggle to flow in one aspect when generally its all still freewheeling.
Ah yes, now this was an inspired moment! Managed to take slash while holding Taj in my arms. Perhaps its a daily feat for most dad’s, but I’d never had to consider my options like that. I was babysitting, well, essentially listening for the first cry when she wakes and then calling the mayday through to mother dearest. So I only had 10minutes or so to brave through. And I was doing just fine, other than needing to go. Tried asking her to hang out in the cot for a moment (odd begging to a little being that cant speak), but screams started as I put her down. And I liked that she liked the comfort of my arms. Definitely not the case when mother and father are home… I seem only able to to the right side, which meant unbuttoning with the left. Aiming while trying that bouncing-comfort-baby-effort had me feeling victorious after sufficient relief. Didnt bother buttoning back up.

Dan good work, but slashing while holding a baby is nothing – try making supper, feeding the dog, tying your shoelaces ect. Glad to hear things are getting better on the health/training front.
