Xterra South Africa 2008 Champion!
April 19th, 2008 by Dan Hugo
On some high… Had a great day today at the Xterra in Grabouw, leading out the swim, biking with Conrad and Felix for a while, getting away with Conrad, coming in solo, and staying away on the run for my first national title. Was also the first time anyone’s handed me a South African flag to finish with, and all at home where most of my support base was present. Properly special.
But that said, with as much respect and admiration as I have for Conrad, he flatted and lost a lot of time trying to repair, and so wasnt a factor in the end. Hence not the big win that needed a small miracle, but a win and a big step forward all the same.
Felix Schumann finished second, with another German Nico Pfitzenmaier in third. Eszter Erdelyi won the girls race, with Jeannie Bomford in second and Michelle Lombardi in third.
Off to the Xterra Night of Champions in the next half hour, for a night of fun and celebrations, and probably some partying at the tale end of it. Cant wait.
I’ll write a full report as soon as I can… Thanks for the interest and support.

Congratulations!
This is only a start of a long story… sort of like Star Wars… or Star Trek (it is longer)…

Congratulations Dan!
I agree with Nikola - this must be a start of a long line of victories…
