Stillwater Sports Management organised a celebration for the South African Xterra icons: Conrad Stoltz, Lieuwe Boonstra and Michelle Lombardi on Thursday night upon Stoltz’ return from the USA. It was classy venue for some class athletes at Esquire, the cigar lounge at Lanzerac Wine Estate on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. A brilliant night. And a brilliant excuse for not being able to do a post for the past three days, no?
Ruth has been working on some very incriminating evidence from the night (click or go to the Cinema page). So enjoyed seeing Conrad, as well as many of the Xterra family characters I seldom do.
I am currently sitting in Pietermaritzburg, in Natal, half asleep, not so much from the party still, more from the race I did this morning: The Midmar Multisport Festival. I did the individual long swim option – 1km, 32km mtb, 10km trail run.
Having started prep for a longish triathlon this past week, I wasnt up for much battle today, and thankfully was left to be and could cruise most the way to victory. I’ll try steal some photo’s soonest and do a race report when I’m revived. Flying back down in the morn – home sweet home.
Off to nap I am… And it was a only a few drinks, I promise.
